INTERNSHIP IN THE ART OF SUPERVISION
July 15-27, 2012

This two-week residential program is conducted in a contemplative mode, and is designed specifically for the training of supervisors of spiritual directors. The application period for the program has opened.

PROGAM INCLUDES

•   Adult learning in a multi-faith, multi-cultural, contemplative environment
•   Individual supervision by staff
•   Daily seminars on supervision of spiritual directors and related topics
•   Practicum in individual supervision
•   Practicum in group supervision
•   Dialogue with experienced spiritual directors about this ministry in contemporary culture
•   Process of linking spiritual life and the transformation of social structures
•   Room and board for the full duration of the internship
•   The weekend of July 21-22 is unstructured time for quiet retreats or visiting the Bay Area
•   Certificate of completion

This program, which began at Mercy Center Burlingame in 1993, is suitable for both experienced supervisors and those who are just beginning. The program is designed for those who wish to improve the quality of their supervisory skills.

Program content will focus on awareness of the nature of supervision, including theological, psychological and educational support strategies. Professional and psychological issues for supervisors will also be addressed. The practicum includes both individual and group supervision daily.  Participants will receive individual supervision by a staff person.

Ample time has been set aside for personal reflection, reading, and writing.  Daily group prayer is available on campus.
