Welcoming Prayer Immersion Retreat February 4-7, 2010 Registration closed The Welcoming Prayer is a method of actively letting go of thoughts and feelings that support the false-self system. It provides a method in everyday life to dismantle the emotional programs for happiness that lead us away from God. An established practice of the Welcoming Prayer can help us to live our intention of consenting to God’s presence and action within and around us—present moment by present moment. This four-day retreat provides an in-depth introduction, review, and immersion into the Welcoming Prayer. Intensive practice of the prayer helps to establish it as a part of the rhythm of your day in complement to your practice of Centering Prayer. Unlike other retreats, this one is not completely silent but alternates brief periods of silence with intensive study and practice of the Welcoming Prayer. Cherry Haisten is a longtime presenter of workshops on Centering Prayer and Welcoming Prayer, which she has regularly practiced for many years. She is the Welcoming Prayer Service Team leader for the international Contemplative Outreach Resource Faculty and has been on the leadership team of Contemplative Outreach Northwest since 1996. She has a Master of Arts in Transforming Spirituality from Seattle University School of Theology and Ministry. Cherry is program director of The Center at St. Andrew’s, a healing, community, and lifelong learning ministry of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Seattle. |
